About Me


Hello, my name is Maritza Lozano and I am a student at Southwestern Adventist University on the verge of graduating but currently studying communication with an emphasis on film, tv, and radio. I am currently looking for a career in production, camera operation, or anything similar after graduation. As of now, I managed to do a summer internship in the social media field, working with Agency Habitat, which was enlightening. Another opportunity that I am working on is with the university as a Live Stream Director for most of my college career I have been with the Media team as a camera operator until my junior year I was promoted to Director and that is where I currently stand. During my four years, I have taken the opportunity to grow and develop my skills in communications. I have networked here and there around the states. I am glad the professors that are currently here came when they came I have managed to learn so much from them. My goal is to show them that with their hard work I was able to find a career that makes me happy and that I am passionate about. Southwestern has been a great experience in character development and skills. I have learned basic skills such as design editing, photo editing, photography, video or film, etc... My first year here was about the basics of media and its techniques not only that but also the importance of writing. In my second year here I learned more about production and video as well as editing with different programs. That was probably my most hands-on year with cameras of all types. Learning the different equipment and their purpose in the industry as well as proper handling care. In my third year, I learned about the importance of film and media law. There is a lot of information but it was all so pleasing to learn about. My Four year was more about the writing and public relations side of communications. This career can come with issues and crises that we have to learn how to react according to the issue. Overall I appreciate my professors in my department as well as the Gen-Ed professors for doing an amazing job and lecturing me these last four years.

Importance of my major


Communication with an emphasis on film, tv, and radio is important because it is the career I want to pursue. In addition to that, it is important to the world because without communication the world will not function. Communication is involved in marketing, advertising, film, radio, video content, social media, news, etc... It is such an important role in many careers that it gives me the joy to know I can have multiple career growth opportunities with this major.

  • Responsible for performing clerical tasks within an office setting to support daily operations. Duties include answering and transferring phone calls to employees, sorting and delivering mail to employees, greeting visitors when they arrive for a meeting, and fixing any issues the customer may have.


Media Services at Southwestern Adventist University Keene, Tx

Director/ camera operator January 2020-present

  • Perform with a team of 3 to 4 people to operate cameras for live events, and film videos for the University. Advise the video team about which shots to use before going live with cameras as a director. To accomplish a great live stream for the community or content for the university.
  • Cooperate with a team to move and set up equipment (lights, cameras, tripods, sound, etc.) To accomplish a service that the Media department provides. I operate with different brands of cameras to perform appropriately for different events. (Church, Sports, and University events/ projects, etc..). 
  • Join the sound team to aid in any events when teammates are unavailable or when the sound manager request help.

  • Planned routes to deliver the customer’s products to their doors to make things more efficient. 
  • Completed every order that was delivered to me, so I could provide the customer with their products. In case of miscommunication between the merchant to me, I would reach out to the customer and inform them of any problem, provide a solution and deliver.

Director August 2021

  • Manage a team of 2 or more people to properly set up camera equipment and how to use a camera properly.  
  • Encourage them to use creativity for shots as well as teach the team movements, tricks, or operating skills. 
  • Communicate with the team before an event starts about what I am looking for from different camera angles to better prep the operators for a successful stream.
